Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Greenwich CT
What is CBT? Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) examines how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected to each other. We will work together to help you reframe patterns of unhelpful thinking into more helpful thoughts. We will also work to reduce problematic behaviors and replace them with more adaptive behaviors. Changing your thoughts and behaviors will improve your mood, decrease anxiety, and help with other psychological issues. We will also work together to systematically change your behaviors to become more adaptive. We will help you with anything that may get in the way (e.g., escape or avoidance behaviors, rumination).

Is there homework? Because there is only so much we can do in one therapy session, CBT is most effective when you complete weekly homework assignments to practice what you learned in therapy. We will give you "homework" to practice the skills you learned in therapy each week.

Does CBT work? CBT has been evaluated in thousands of large clinical research trials, and is considered the best treatment for many different psychological conditions, including eating disorders, depression, OCD, and anxiety.

What kind of training do you have in CBT? All therapists have extensive training in CBT, for both children/adolescents and adults. We have spent several years delivering CBT to a variety of patients. Please contact us to schedule an initial appointment.
