Family Based Therapy

Family-Based Therapy in Greenwich, Darien, Westport, Westchester, and Surrounding Areas in Connecticut and New York.

We work with any combinations of family members to nurture change. We often work with families to treat specific mental health or behavioral conditions in family members. Family therapy can help with parent-child conflicts, parenting issues, and mental health difficulties that a child may be experiencing. We also work with families to help resolve conflict and improve communication.

What is your treatment approach?

We are passionate about supporting parents and their children. Dr. Cohen works with families and parents in supporting their children. He teaches parents skills to know what to do in their parenting approach. Dr. Sala works with families where a child struggles with an eating disorder through family-based treatment (FBT) for eating disorders.

Is family therapy effective?

Several research studies support the effectiveness of family therapy. In regard to eating disorders, FBT is considered the treatment with the most research support for children and adolescents.

What experience do you have with family therapy?

Andrew Gottlieb-Cohen has extensive expertise in working with families/parents. He has worked at the Yale Child Study Center. Dr. Sala has received training in FBT from Stanford University.
