Family-Based Therapy (FBT)
What is family therapy?
Family therapy is a branch of psychology that works with families to nurture change. Family therapy views change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members. Family therapy can help with parent-child conflicts, parenting issues, and mental health difficulties that a child may be experiencing.
What is your treatment approach?
We are passionate about supporting parents and their children. Dr. Cohen works with families and parents in supporting their children. He teaches parents skills to know what to do in their parenting approach. Dr. Sala works with families where a child struggles with an eating disorder through family-based treatment (FBT) for eating disorders.
Is family therapy effective?
Several research studies support the effectiveness of family therapy. In regard to eating disorders, FBT is considered the treatment with the most research support for children and adolescents.
