What is family therapy? Family therapy is a branch of psychology that works with families to nurture change. Family therapy views change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members. Family therapy can help with parent-child conflicts, parenting issues, and mental health difficulties that a child may be experiencing. 

What type of family therapy do you do? We are passionate about supporting parents and their children. Dr. Cohen works with families and parents in supporting their children. He teaches parents skills to know what to do in their parenting approach. Dr. Sala works with families where a child struggles with an eating disorder through family-based treatment (FBT) for eating disorders. 

Does family therapy work? Several research studies support the effectiveness of family therapy. In regard to eating disorders, FBT is considered the treatment with the most research support for children and adolescents.

What kind of training do you have in family therapy? Andrew Gottlieb-Cohen has extensive expertise in working with families/parents. He has worked at the Yale Child Study Center. Dr. Sala has received training in FBT from Stanford University.
